Sydney, 16 June 2005 – Gerard Florian has been appointed chief marketing officer (CMO) Dimension Data, following former marketing director, Merle Singer’s move to the new role as director of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program – Heads, Hearts and Hands (HHH).

In the newly created role of CMO, Mr Florian will report directly to CEO Steve Nola and will work closely with both local and global management to define the overall direction and strategy of the business focusing on technologies, solutions and services across the organisation. He is also responsible for marketing that strategy and Dimension Data's value proposition to staff, clients and partners.

Formerly chief technology officer, Mr Florian brings a unique technical pedigree to his new role. He joined Dimension Data in 1992 as a pre-sales engineer, and has subsequently held various technical and management roles during his 13 years with the company.

As head of marketing at Dimension Data for over 15 years, Merle Singer was the founding creator of the Dimension Data Forum, (first held in 1991). Ms Singer is now focusing her energy on Dimension Data’s CSR program. Ms Singer’s role encompasses the strategic and tactical execution of social ventures and community initiatives nationwide.

“I am really looking forward to getting my teeth into a program that supports Dimension Data’s goal to be the employer of choice in the IT industry, and to enable the company and its employees to make meaningful contributions to the community,” says Singer.
