Next Generation iSCSI Storage Server Software Offers Continuous Data Replication and Rapid Data Restore for Business-Critical Applications Including Microsoft Exchange and SQL

Sydney, Australia – June 15, 2005-FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced that the next generation of its iSCSI Storage Server software solution, initially developed for Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003, is now available on all Microsoft Windows Server 2003 platforms. This enables enterprise and SMB customers to maximise return on their IT investment by deploying advanced iSCSI storage services using their existing Windows Server, to ensure that business critical databases and messaging systems, such as Microsoft SQL and Exchange, are manageable, protected and highly available.

Continuing its efforts to support and enhance Microsoft technology, FalconStor’s iSCSI Storage Server offers enhanced support for Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator version 2.0, and fully leverages the advanced management features inherent in Microsoft Windows Server 2003, including the Microsoft management Console plug-in user interface, Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) and Microsoft’s Multipath I/O (MPIO). As a result, iSCSI Storage Server delivers improved data manageability, reliability and availability through fault tolerance against single points of failure, and load balancing of I/O data traffic for better application performance.

To help IT managers achieve even the most stringent recovery point and recovery time objectives, iSCSI Storage Server now provides continuous data replication for direct attached storage by means of the enhanced DiskSafe software option, which when coupled with FalconStor’s database aware Snapshot Agents, creates point-in-time images to ensure that application data is continuously replicated and backed up in a valid, transactionally accurate state with 100% data integrity.

In addition to continuous data replication for maximum data protection of direct attached storage, iSCSI Storage Server enables users to initiate backup and recovery operations, removing this administrative burden from IT management and professionals. And, to ensure full and rapid recovery, DiskSafe now supports remote boot recovery via iSCSI HBA or PXE, as well as remote restore via recovery CD.

The new iSCSI Storage Server Capacity-on-Demand Agent provides policy-based management of storage usage and capacity, spanning all platforms and providing continuous up time by automatically increasing free storage space before it falls below critical levels. Capacity-on-Demand Agent compresses or migrates files, or expands volumes based on user-defined policies.

FalconStor is one of the first companies to recognise the real world business advantages associated with iSCSI, and continues to invest in the development of cost effective, innovative software designed to reduce the overall complexities and costs associated with a dynamic storage environment. The next generation iSCSI Storage Server for Windows software is the pinnacle of these efforts and provides Windows users a cost-effective SAN infrastructure that can centralise the management and provisioning of legacy as well as advanced storage devices, over an existing IP network. iSCSI Storage Server leverages FalconStor’s award winning IPStor® Enterprise Edition software, and is the first fully featured, seamlessly integrated software solution designed specifically to transform Microsoft Windows Servers into a unified storage platform, providing both file and block level services.

About iSCSI Storage Server

Initially launched by FalconStor in April 2004, the iSCSI Storage Server addresses the needs of SMB/departmental customers by enabling Windows Servers to offer SAN-based snapshot, delta replication and zero-impact backup and restore services to application hosts attached to an IP network. To optimise system availability and business productivity, the iSCSI Storage Server also offers mirroring and cluster services, which enable continuous operation during a planned or unplanned outage.
