Zircon appoints Gwen John as Managing Director and Anthony Shewan as Operations Director

<p>Sydney, Thursday, June 9, 2005 – Zircon has appointed Gwen John as its new managing director. It has also appointed Anthony Shewan as the Operations Director with both positions effective immediately.</p>
<p>In her role Gwen will be responsible for the sales and marketing, channel development and general operations of the business. Anthony Shewan will take responsibility for the operations, including logistics, supplier relationships and distribution.</p>
<p>Zircon specialises in managed services for the channel without the need for each individual dealer to establish its own costly infrastructure or bring in extra resources to make it happen. What makes Zircon different is its complete offering and ability to offer a combined voice and data solution along with Professional Services. Zircon’s portfolio of products and services includes professional services, integration and managed services to members under the Boost program.</p>
<p>For example, a member can offer a new telephony system complete with a private VPN, managed security, dedicated broadband connections, professional services and have it managed remotely.</p>
<p>“Zircon fills an interesting niche in the market today,” said Gwen John. “We offer resellers a number of IP services including hosting, connectivity and voice solutions. This gives our channel a number of opportunities to earn revenue but have their distributor do the bulk of the work for them.</p>
<p>“My goal is to grow this business to specialise in IP products and services, with the same end result: making winning, keeping and retaining business easy for them. To achieve this I need to expand the product and services we offer.</p>
<p>“The idea is that our members are part of a virtual sales team across Australia. We are looking for members to be part of a team, leveraging our infrastructure so we can support them in pre-sales and professional services. In turn our members can support us by being part of a large membership network all over Australia. Together, we have the common goal of providing services and support for our customers.”</p>
<p>Gwen John has more than 14 years experience in the IT&amp;T industry primarily in marketing and sales roles. Most recently Gwen ran her own communications and marketing strategy company. Before that, she was a group manager at Recognition PR.</p>
<p>Anthony Shewan has 20 years experience in operations and logistics in the pharmaceutical, printing and gaming industries. Anthony has a Masters of Management from MGSM.</p>
