Nexon has followed up the launch of channel subsidiary, Zircon, with the appointment of Gwen John as its first managing director.
She will be assisted by new operations director, Anthony Shewan, and current channel manager, Kosta Doukas.
Nexon announced in February that it would use the branding of the recently acquired subsidiary to drive its indirect business. As part of the arrangement, its 60 reseller partners would be transitioned across a separate Zircon division, while the Nexon business would be focused on direct sales.
John said her first port of call would be to expand the number of vendors and resellers working with the separate organisation.
This would involve recruiting dealers nationally, she said. The company would also announce a strategic acquisition to help build on its managed services portfolio in the coming weeks.
"I want us to move towards providing a managed communications services model at any level," John said. "We've got connectivity and hosting services, but I want to expand this further."
Some of the new add-on services now being considered by the company included mobile broadband connectivity, such as iBurst, as well as more IP-based applications like gateway services, she said. This would allow the company to broaden its relationships with existing customers.
The company would also look at appointing a distributor to assist in its delivery of value-added services and product to dealers, John said.
She has 14 years IT experience in a variety of sales and marketing roles. Most recently, John ran her own communications consultancy business. Shewan has spent 20 years in operations and logistics across the gaming, pharmaceutical and printing industries.
