Sydney, Australia, June 7, 2005 – IBM’s Systems and Technology Group today honored customers and partners that are setting new standards for iSeries innovation as winners of the first ever iSeries Innovation Awards for the Asia-Pacific region. The awards were presented at the annual regional iSeries Strategic Planning Conference held in Perth, Australia from May 24-26.

LANSA was recognized in the category “iSeries General Manager's Award for Innovative Technology Deployment on iSeries”. The eServer iSeries Innovation Awards are designed to showcase end-user and partner achievements in IT innovation using the IBM iSeries platform. Mark Shearer, IBM’s iSeries General Manager with global responsibility, hosted the award program.

“Our partners and clients around the world keep finding new ways to make businesses more flexible and resilient while at the same time reducing costs,” said Nick Lambert, IBM Asia-Pacific’s iSeries Sales Director. “Our awards salute these leaders who are consistently using innovative solutions on the iSeries platform to deliver greater customer value and cutting-edge solutions in their respective areas of business. We especially value the contribution of ISV partners such as LANSA whose injection of skills and technology is critical to the early adoption process.”

Mahesh Ramanayake, iSeries Marketing & Solutions Executive, IBM Asia-Pacific, in explaining the rationale for LANSA receiving its award, referred to LANSA's long-term and continuing record for introducing new technologies to AS/400 and iSeries customers ahead of the pack - from CASE, to client/server development, to e-business, to e-commerce and now B2B integration, Web Services and RFID.

Gordon Davies, Vice-President Asia Pacific for LANSA commented, “We greatly appreciate the recognition afforded by IBM’s iSeries Innovation Award. The innovative ways our customers and partners find to apply LANSA technology serve as inspiration to keep evolving our LANSA products. We also appreciate IBM’s fresh commitment to partnering as expressed in the newly announced iSeries Initiative for Innovation.”

IBM’s iSeries Initiative for Innovation consists of three programs: Application Innovation, Tools Innovation (where LANSA is a key player) and iSeries Innovation. Under the initiative, IBM pledges that “Together with our partners, we will create an open, collaborative community to fuel innovation in iSeries solutions, partner applications and On Demand capabilities for our mutual clients”. Underpinning the initiative is the IBM Charter for iSeries Innovation, which is IBM Corporation’s commitment to the future of the platform including a sustained multi-year investment in the iSeries as a vital and strategic system going forwards. The initiative was a key focus area of this year’s Strategic Planning Conference.
