Saratoga has added another security vendor to its stable, signing a new distribution deal with German outfit, O&O Software.
The agreement will see the software distributor stock its range of defrag and disaster recovery tools for the Windows platform.
Saratoga managing director, Ivar Stanelis, said it had approached O&O Software. The vendor had been operating through a selection of resellers locally but did not have a primary distribution partner, he said.
Stanelis said the software would be complementary to its existing lines.
"Our thing has always been to try and provide businesses and reseller clients with effective solutions that deal with the use of the Internet and provide protection," he said. "O&O fills a missing niche for us: that of data rescue."
The products were also cost effective for the small and medium business markets - a key segment for Saratoga, he said.
While the products suited resellers from a broad range of markets, Stanelis said it would specifically be seeking those dealing with systems integration, as well as partners targeting consumers, such as Harris Technology.
O&O Software managing director, Frank Alperstaedt, said the vendor had opted to go with Saratoga because of its size and market coverage. The decision was part of the company's plans to expand its partner network into all major software markets, he said.
"This new distribution partnership enables excellent access to the Australian market with direct local access to the software resellers and customers," he said.
The deal also coincides with the launch of the latest version of O&O Defrag this month, Alperstaedt said.
