SANTA CLARA, Calif. — June 1, 2005 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that it has shipped over one million residential ADSL gateways. This milestone reinforces NETGEAR’s position as a leading worldwide solutions provider of wired and wireless networking products for homes and small businesses, while maintaining its position as a leading provider of modem routers in overseas markets.

“This milestone heralds great success for NETGEAR not only in sustaining high levels of demand throughout every corner of the world, but also in making the NETGEAR brand synonymous with innovative, yet easy to use, networking solutions,” said Patrick Lo, chairman and CEO of NETGEAR. “Our penetration in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the Asia-Pacific regions, where we maintain a dominant market share for residential gateways, proves that customers trust NETGEAR’s products over other vendors for their reliability and affordability.”

NETGEAR enjoys a widespread presence in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific markets through a network of over 4,200 retail outlets and more than 20,000 value-added resellers. NETGEAR also maintains very good relationship with many Internet Service Providers in those regions. Customers turn to NETGEAR in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific markets for modem routers because of its reputation as a provider of high quality networking devices.

“The overseas residential broadband market is showing considerable growth,” stated Luke Thomas, research analyst with Frost & Sullivan’s Information and Communication Technology research division. “NETGEAR’s success in the overseas residential ADSL market comes as no surprise, as the company maintains significant brand recognition among customers worldwide for multi-service products.”

Each device within NETGEAR’s family of residential ADSL products provides multifunction convergence in a single affordable unit, delivering cost savings and a streamlined installation process for customers. Introduced in the fourth quarter of 2003, the third generation NETGEAR ADSL Firewall Router (DG834) family provides four functions in one networking device, including an ADSL modem, router, 10/100 LAN switch and firewall. NETGEAR’s Wireless ADSL Firewall Router (DG834G), adds 802.11g wireless functionality, in addition to support for the ADSL 2+ standard. The NETGEAR Super Wireless ADSL Modem Router (DG834GT), unveiled in November 2004, is the first gateway to include Super GÔ technology, enabling users to surf wirelessly with speeds up to 108 Mbps.

Each model in the NETGEAR ADSL router family has garnered distinct praise as a preferred solution among customers seeking multifunction convergence in a small physical footprint. To date, the NETGEAR Wireless ADSL Firewall Router (DG834G) has received several prestigious product and design accolades, including PC Plus Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award, Internet Magazine’s Best Buy Award and more recently, the 2004 GOOD DESIGNÔ Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, which recognized the modem router’s sleek and stylish housing.
