Tech Pacific stalwart, Josh Velling, has hung up his distribution spurs for a new job with Sandisk. He will join the flash and memory vendor next month as regional sales manager A/NZ.
Velling spent a decade with Tech Pac, which was divided fairly equally between sales management and category marketing.
While admitting the merger with Ingram Micro had been a catalyst for his decision to move on, he denied it had been a major factor.
"The change to Ingram Micro was a good junction for me to change because I had been with the company for 10 years and wanted to try something else," he said.
"Going to work for a vendor is part of my career development plan.
"I have enjoyed being part of a successful [Tech Pac] organisation and feel I have worked with an excellent group of people."
As far as the Ingram/Tech Pac merger is concerned, Velling said he was far from surprised.
"I think it was inevitable consolidation, which is ongoing in the market, but distribution will continue to go forward," he said. "It's a key part of the industry."
Currently taking a well-earned rest, Velling is holidaying in Tasmania with his family.
