Newly established software supplier, SQL Tools ANZ, has struck a deal with Idera to become its exclusive distributor in Australia and New Zealand.
SQL Tools managing director, Tony Finnemore, said it had sought out a partnership with the vendor as a way of expanding its business. The distributor's parent company had previously focused on the business intelligence market, he said.
Under the new arrangement, it will supply Idera's range of Microsoft SQL Server tools to resellers. These include backup, diagnostic, configuration, auditing and remote management applications.
Finnemore said the products were suited to any organisation currently employing SQL Server.
"These products overcome the problems they may face by not having highly skilled staff internally," he said.
For resellers, the Idera software would provide a new revenue stream as well as the basis for an outsourced managed service, Finnemore said.
"These tools will add the chips to the sale," he said. "Resellers can manage and backup customer software reliably or manage databases across different areas of their business."
Finnemore said his company was now on the recruitment path for value-added resellers, particularly those working with CRM or accounting products.
SQL Tools had also approached Microsoft for a potential partnership to onsell the Idera range to its major account resellers, he said. Local referral partners would also be appointed on a commission basis.
While SQL Tools will also initially sell the products direct to customers, Finnemore said he wanted to have at least half of total sales going through resellers in the next year.
"We are starting from scratch, but in two years we expect to have 80 per cent of sales going through the channel," he said.
Although Idera doesn't offer training to its customers globally, Finnemore said it would put together a training package for its resellers, as well as 24-hour support services.
