Enterprise mobility vendor, Symbol, has appointed Vincent Chiappazzo as A/NZ director of channels and marketing. The former Microsoft enterprise sales manager takes over from Michael Seekamp.
Assessing channel representation in Symbol's traditional markets of retail, transport, logistics and manufacturing would be a priority, Chiappazzo said.
"My initial focus is to review the current channel setup over the next two months and identify verticals where Symbol may be under represented," he said.
Identifying strategic relationships with ERP vendors and possibly Microsoft for mid-market integrated solutions was another area of potential growth, he said.
Symbol would look to interface its handheld data capture business with backend systems, Chiappazzo said.
The company had moved towards a more channel-centric model via its Partner Select Program (PSP) during the past two years, he said.
This had culminated in the appointment of Transtech as a second distributor in December.
Symbol uses Warp as its master distributor.
The vendor had also added ISV and Premier ISV levels to PSP and would look to recruit development partners in its key verticals, Chiappazzo said. Free training, including a new module on RFID, would be offered to new and existing partners, he said.
The vendor has also moved to simplify its partner program.
