Acquisition includes business, assets, people and contracts to double Nexon’s business and expedites expansion plans for Queensland

Sydney, Thursday, May 26, 2005 – Nexon Asia-Pacific has completed an acquisition of Heyday Group telephony business. The purchase includes Heyday’s business customer base, support and maintenance contracts, and its 20 staff in Brisbane and Sydney.

The acquisition makes Nexon Asia-Pacific one of Alcatel’s largest Premium partners and the largest operation in Brisbane. Heyday’s significant Brisbane presence expedites Nexon’s expansion plans to Queensland. Among Heyday’s customers are Queensland Health, Queensland Police and Alto Group.

Charles Assaf, managing director of Nexon, said, “This acquisition represents a new chapter for Nexon as it launches us firmly into the corporate and government market. Heyday has an excellent customer base, among them household names, and we intend to springboard from this to pitch us firmly in this space.

“This acquisition doubles Nexon’s telephony business, and I expect this growth to continue as the demand for converged voice and data solutions swells. It also gives Nexon an immediate presence in Queensland – a region that both Heyday and Alcatel have had excellent results in.”

David Hammond, managing director of Heyday, said, “Nexon is a perfect company to acquire our PABX business. The PABX business does not form part of Heyday’s core business so the decision to divest the business was in the best interests of our customers and staff. With this in mind, we also wanted to ensure we found the right buyer for the business.

“Nexon’s expertise and status as an Alcatel Premium partner, experience and focus in IP Telephony as well as its plans for growth represents made it the perfect candidate. Its reputation for providing managed communications solutions also means it can offer added value to our customers.

“I’d like to thank our staff and customers for their support confirming the decision we have made is the right one,” said David Hammond.

The acquisition is effective immediately. Customers can call Nexon on 1300 30 20 70.
