Looking to snatch market share away from BenQ and ViewSonic, Cassa Australia has inked a deal with AG Neovo to introduce a full range of display technologies to its books.
The deal marked a fresh start in a new product category, Cassa Australia display product manager, Nigel Campbell, said.
"It's the first time we've imported and distributed these types of monitors," he said. "We had a brief flirtation with CMV, via Impact, but that wasn't satisfactory."
Cassa went trawling for display products at Computex last year, and crossed paths with Neovo, he said. Since that time, it had been tracking the company's success in Europe, the US and Asia.
"Neovo has a good range of product and a good visual presence," he said.
Part of the Cellnet Group, Cassa traditionally distributes a range of IT products including components, desktops, thin clients, notebooks, servers and wireless products.
Campbell said the reason for the leap into the display product category was to take advantage of the growing demand for medium to high performance displays with innovative features and design.
"We're not looking to compete with the F-Series at the bottom end of the market, but rather capture market share from the likes of BenQ and ViewSonic at the medium to higher end," Campbell said. "The entry-level offers more in terms of volume sales, but there's more margin for resellers with the higher performing systems."
The distributor will carry a host of gear from entry-level displays (including the F-Series with dual analogue plus DVI inputs in 15-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch sizes), along with high-performance displays (including the X-Series for photo imaging, graphic design and presentation sectors).
Reaction from resellers has been positive, Campbell said, particularly those catering to the business market and those with a graphics and video imaging bent.
"Neovo has a good name in international markets, and we want to see similar success here in Australia," he said.
