Firewall security vendor Check Point Software Technologies has been spreading the security and traffic management gospel in Australia for a few years now, but, according to the vendor's newly appointed regional manager Peter Sandilands, the message doesn't seem to have hit home.
Sandilands, formerly of Novell, says there is a tremendous opportunity for resellers to garner services revenue from supplying firewall security and bandwidth management products to end users because they know little about the technology.
"The firewall security and management products that we offer are not simple desktop applications that can be loaded and forgotten about," Sandilands claimed.
"There is a large amount of planning and configuration that needs to be done by the customer which gives the reseller the opportunity to make more money out of tangible services such as consulting and remote management."
Check Point offers a range of products from Firewall-1, an enterprise security and virtual private network (VPN) application suite that provides access control, authentication, encryption, network address translation and auditing.
Floodgate-1, Check Point's latest offering, is a policy-based bandwidth solution to manage traffic on Internet and intranet links. Both products conform to Check Point's own Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) security framework.
