MessageLabs and Dimension Data have joined forces to provide new managed security services to the integrator's customer base.
Under the agreement, Dimension Data will offer a MessageLabs branded service that checks email at the Internet level before delivering it to customers networks. It is intended to provide protection from viruses, spam, pornography and other unwanted content.
The reseller deal was significant because it was the first time Dimension Data had involved a third party in managing a service it sold, corporate communications manager, Martin Aungle, said.
It would run similarly to its own VoIP managed service, he said.
Dimension Data would also offer first level support through its operation centre, Aungle said.
Companies were under unprecedented pressure to secure data, MessageLabs Asia-Pacific director of partners, Andy Lake, said. A specialist managed service freed up in-house IT resources as well as reducing demand on bandwidth.
Aungle claimed enterprise level users who were at greater risk from spam would gain the most benefits from the service because of email volumes.
