KVS Wins 1,500 License Salmat Deal

Enterprise Vault® Provides Scalable and Centralised Information Lifecycle Management

Sydney – June 29, 2004 – Australian customer communications leader Salmat today announced that its pilot trial of Enterprise Vault provided by KVS Inc. has now gone 100 per cent live. The total archiving platform has been deployed to 1,500 users across the organisation to help centrally manage and archive exchange databases whilst ensuring the company complies with strict privacy standards.

With offices in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, Salmat specialises in all forms of direct customer communication, targeting both existing and new customers. Enterprise Vault was implemented after the Company moved from Lotus Notes CC Mail. Salmat’s Privacy Policy falls in line with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 and the National Privacy Principles contained in that Act in all activities of Salmat involving the collection, use, disclosure and handling of personal information.

“Because of the vast amount of sensitive information being sent and received by the organisation, currently standing at over 4 million archives or 270 gigabytes of archive mail, we didn’t want to have to delete any emails, including those of employees who may have over time left the Company. Through size reduction and back-up, Enterprise Vault allows us to centrally manage and retain all of our legacy Exchange databases,” said John May, IT Group Systems Manager. “Enterprise Vault allows us to archive mail in a central location on scalable infrastructure and removes the storage and management overhead from our distributed Exchange servers.”

Enterprise Vault reliably stores a very high volume of electronic information, and simultaneously allows that information to be searched and retrieved easily by end users.

“New regulations both here and overseas such as Sabanes Oxley mean that Australian companies will be storing more volumes of records, documents and communication than ever before. Because information lifecycle management (ILM) is critical, adequate storage is no longer enough; it’s about accessibility, retention, discovery, audit and authenticity,” said Bjorn Engelhardt, KVS Regional Director, Asia Pacific.

“Unstructured information such as email is a corporate risk. If you can’t audit and discover content in email, you can’t comply. With Enterprise Vault, Salmat can now preserve all email, documents and records in original format to ensure authenticity and avoid playing a risky legal lottery.”

In addition to enabling regulatory compliance, Enterprise Vault increases worker productivity through automatically moving information into a centralised storage locale, eliminating document message and content storage responsibilities from individual users. The results are reduced administration and storage costs and protection against records being altered or deleted.
