Collingwood football club has a new team member, following the announcement that Sony Australia is to become a major team sponsor and official technology partner of the club in a two-year partnership worth more than $1 million.
The partnership will incorporate signage, coaching apparel, and branding.
The deal also includes the provision of Sony products and technology. Collingwood coaching staff will use Sony products to establish a new wireless communications system between the coaching box and the on-ground coaching staff.
Player movements and on-field tactics will be relayed instantly between the box and the bench using Sony VAIO notebook computers and a Sony LCD monitor positioned in the coach’s box.
Collingwood will also place Sony at the forefront of the club’s new sports, entertainment and business complex at Olympic Park in Melbourne by featuring Sony’s plasma screens, audio systems, Wega televisions, VAIO notebooks, projectors and CD players.
Sony Australia managing director, Toshi Mashima, said the partnership was a pivotal part of the company’s commitment to Victoria and the broader sporting arena.
“AFL has such a unique place in the hearts and minds of the Victorian public,” he said.
“Sony hopes to engage with this and contribute through a shared commitment to entertaining, leading, innovating and striving for excellence.”
