Warranty service provider, United Electrical Engineering (UEE), has stepped up in the wake of Elite Industries’ warranty issues to offer continuing coverage to affected customers.
Dealers with customers that have an outstanding warranty with Elite can be provided with a “get out of jail” card — whereby UEE will fulfill the remainder of the warranty period for a small fee of $20.
UEE said it would not only honour the warranties Elite resold on its behalf in the past 18 months, but also exposed older warranties that were not.
The company is one of the creditors of Elite.
A spokesperson for UEE said such “rescue packages” tended to result in short-term losses for the warranty company, but also generated long-term dealer loyalty.
The spokesperson said he understood the majority of affected customers were from Queensland.
