- Latest Model Compatible with Other Manufacturers’ Digital Cameras; Extends Ability to Print Kodak Pictures at Home
- PICTBRIDGE Standard enables Direct-from-Camera Printing and adds Direct-from-Memory Card Printing

SYDNEY, May 4, 2004 —Kodak today announced the release of its latest Kodak EasyShare Printer Dock which incorporates PICTBRIDGE technology for compatibility with multiple brands of digital cameras. The PICTBRIDGE standard will allow other manufacturers’ cameras to connect to the Kodak EasyShare printer dock. Other additional features include an optional external memory card reader and dedicated multi-function connector for Kodak EasyShare 600/6000 and 700/7000-series digital cameras.

The Kodak EasyShare Printer Dock produces direct 4 x 6-inch thermal picture prints (full size and multiple images per sheet) with or without a computer. Providing both convenience and exceptional picture quality, the sleek, portable Kodak EasyShare printer dock is the simplest way to get real Kodak prints at home at the touch of a button. Kodak EasyShare digital camera owners benefit from a one-touch picture transfer to a connected computer and camera battery recharging — plus reconditioning for improved battery performance — in less than 3.5 hours.

Mr Steve Morley, general manager, Australia and New Zealand, Digital & Applied Imaging Products, Kodak Digital & Film Imaging Systems Division, said, “By opening the platform to other manufacturers’ digital cameras via PICTBRIDGE technology and popular memory card formats, plus compatibility with EasyShare 6000/600 and 7000/700-series cameras, millions of people will have the opportunity to make real Kodak photos in as little as 90 seconds with just one touch.”

The Kodak EasyShare printer dock uses a continuous tone thermal dye transfer system to produce vivid colour with instant drying. The exclusive Kodak Color Science technology produces outstanding skin tone reproduction, plus colour optimisation for ideal photo viewing. Prints are made durable, waterproof and will last a lifetime under typical home storage conditions by a printing process that automatically adds a special XTRALIFE™ laminate coating.

Smaller than earlier models, the new Kodak EasyShare printer dock connects to a computer to print pictures stored on a hard drive, and is packaged with a sample photo paper and cartridge kit that produces 10 Kodak pictures. 40-count refill packs (AU$39.95) include colour cartridges and a matching quantity of thermal photo paper to ensure that supplies are always available.

The Kodak EasyShare Printer Dock will be available in Australia from June for A$299.

In January, the EasyShare printer dock 6000 was honoured with the 2004 Innovations Design and Engineering Award in the United States, which recognises the consumer electronics industry’s most technologically advanced products.

The award-winning Kodak EasyShare consumer digital photography system — consisting of cameras, software, camera docks and printer docks, inkjet and thermal papers, and accessories — makes it simple for anyone to take, organise, share, and print high quality digital pictures.
