Linksys has launched its Partner Connection program in Australia, targetting SOHO and SMB resellers.
The global programme offers rebates to resellers, helping them achieve what Linksys claims are better margin than on rival products.
Regional manager for A/NZ, Brian Allsopp, said he was looking for integrators and value-added resellers who preferred to offer a more sophisticated, consultancy-style approach to customers.
Such participants will benefit from closer relationships with Linksys, priority access to support and direct account managers. Rebates will also be available on Linky's range of 10/100 Ethernet and Gigabit switches, KVM, print server, network cards, security, video camera and network storage products.
After eight months of direct Australian sales, Allsopp said Linksys had 7 per cent of the wireless/ networking market.
"It is a pretty good result," he said.
Managing director of Linksys distributor Ingram Micro, Steve Rust, said Linksys had been under-represented in Australia but its Cisco parent was building up the brand with sales and marketing support.
IDC communications analyst, Susana Vidal, said Linksys had strong products and was a leader in the digital home. But she said it needed to strengthen its brand recognition in Australia to bring it to US levels.
