Tusc gets new CEO

Former Ericsson general manager of services marketing, Kim Murray, has taken over the reins as CEO at systems integrator, Tusc.

She replaces acting executive chairman, Patrick Karson, who oversaw the Tusc management team part-time during Ericsson's initial takeover of the business in November. Karson is Ericsson's general manager of professional services.

Murray said her first focus was to leverage the skills and capabilities inherent at Tusc and develop new customer services opportunities for both businesses. She highlighted the utilities market as one area of growth.

"We wanted an integration company with a strong brand and services capability that had some previous dealings with our customer base," she said. "This is starting to bear fruit with customers like Hutchison, Vodafone and Telstra."

The company was also competing for a range of upcoming tenders which she claimed Ericsson would not have been considered for prior to acquiring Tusc.

Murray said there had been little change to Tusc's management team since the acquisition, with just one resignation from a team of 100 staff. She did not expect to make any alterations in future. Tusc would also continue to remain a separate division within Ericsson.

"We will leverage Ericsson's global purchasing power, best practises and global strength, but have our own systems, procedures, policies and culture," she said. "Tusc has a good strong brand and has been around for 25 years. We don't want to integrate the business but align it with Ericsson."

Murray has been with Ericsson for seven years, covering roles in both services marketing and commercial and business control. She also assisted in the telecoms vendor's acquisition of Tusc from Allied Group. Prior to that, Murray held a senior management position at Crown.
