Optima announces National Business Partner of the Year

 • 18 August, 2004 13:06

SYDNEY, Australia – Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), Australia’s largest computer manufacturer, has named Easy Internet Services as its National Business Partner of the Year.

Easy Internet Services, a small Mackay based dealer that provides computers, Internet products and services to home users and business, beat many of its larger national competitors to take home the title of Queensland Business Partner of the Year and National Business Partner of the Year at Optima’s annual Dealer Conference recently held in Sydney. The awards are based on sales performance.

With only six people working for the company, Easy Internet Services has managed to sell more Optima products in the last financial year than any other Optima business partner, making it the highest performing dealer in the country.

“It's a great feeling to be benchmarked against your colleagues and to come out as number one in the country,” said Deon Attard, Owner, Easy Internet Services. “It’s a real achievement for a dealer in a regional town that doesn’t always have access to the same resources and markets as metropolitan dealers.”

Easy Internet Services has been an Optima business partner for more than three years and is the sole Optima reseller in the Mackay region. Leveraging Optima’s range of value-add services, including dedicated account managers and comprehensive marketing support, Easy Internet Services has been able to maximize revenue for the region.

“Easy Internet Services has delivered an impressive performance, especially considering its size and location, and has set the standard for what Optima business partners can achieve,” said Michael Calculli, Channel Sales Manager, Optima Technology Solutions. “It is important to recognise such talent as the efforts of our business partners are crucial to Optima’s success in the Australian market, enabling us to deliver a nationwide supply and service network.”

Attard is a true local success story. He started his own computer business, Star Computers Mackay, at the age of 16, while completing his senior years at high school. Some of Attard’s first customers were his classmates and teachers. As demand for Attard’s skills continued to grow, he eventually formed Easy Internet Services, expanding the business to offer Internet services.

Easy Internet Services is one of only seven Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Australia that has been approved under the Government’s Higher Bandwidth Incentive Scheme (HiBIS) – an initiative that provides registered ISPs with incentive payments to supply higher bandwidth services in regional, rural and remote areas at prices comparable to those available in metropolitan areas.

“As part of the HiBIS program, we are able to provide broadband Internet access to people in the Mackay area who would otherwise have no chance of ever getting broadband access. Delivered over a wireless platform, this service is allowing many of our customers to work from home and increase the productivity of their business,” said Attard.

Looking to the future, Attard hopes to grow his business, which Optima will continue to support and assist.

“I'm only 25 years old so there’s lots of time to expand yet!”
