IIA Appoints Sophos's Forsyth to Board

<p>Sophos Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Rob Forsyth, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Internet Industry Association (IIA), Australia's peak industry organisation in the sector. The appointment was announced at the Association's recent Annual General Meeting which also celebrated its tenth anniversary.</p>
<p>Rob Forsyth has been with computer security vendor Sophos since 2001 and has been managing director since May 2003.</p>
<p>Prior to joining Sophos, Forsyth spent five years with SOCOG (the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games) as Programme Manager for Workforce Planning and Industrial Relations. In this role, he was responsible for the planning and management involved in filling more than 180,000 paid, volunteer and contract positions. He was also responsible for the site management of the Blacktown softball and baseball facilities during the Games. Earlier, Forsyth spent 10 years with leading Australian IT executive placement and training agency, A.S.K. Solutions Group and spent six years on the Branch Executive of the Australian Computer Society.</p>
<p>Locally, Sophos is leading initiatives with its customers, the IT industry, government, law enforcement, intelligence agencies and the financial services sector to combat computer security threats including Phishing and child pornography.</p>
<p>Announcing the appointment, IIA chief executive Peter Coroneous said, "Rob brings extensive experience and impeccable industry connections to the Board and will provide a significant boost to the association's computer security expertise."</p>
<p>Rob Forsyth said, "I'm honoured to have been selected to represent the interests of the Australian internet industry. The IIA is well positioned to encourage change, lead debate and lobby government across a wide platform of issues in 2005."</p>
