SonicWALL goes south with ACA Pacific

Security vendor, SonicWALL, has tweaked its distributor line-up yet again, this time adding Melbourne-based ACA Pacific.

The distribution and marketing agreement will see ACA Pacific take on the full range of SonicWALL product.

The signing of SonicWALL, which offers integrated Internet security solutions including firewalls, VPN, content filtering and virus protection, is part of ACA Pacific’s effort to expand its security portfolio.

“Our company is the market leader in the distribution of storage management technology and document imaging products in Australia,” ACA Pacific director, HB Tan, said. “Given the reputation of SonicWALL’s product suite we are confident SonicWALL will be the flagship product that will drive the success of our growing security business.”

The signing comes after a period of instability in the SonicWALL distribution channel, which saw the vendor pare its channel down to Lan 1 and Dovetail last year. But as neither distributor has fulfillment facilities in Victoria, the prospect of signing up Melbourne-based ACA Pacific had attracted SonicWALL, the vendor’s Australian sales manager, Tim Dickinson, said.

“It’s not only about fulfillment, it’s also representation – ACA’s whole business is run from Melbourne, its MD is there and it has facilities for product launches,” Dickinson said.

SonicWALL’s channel development efforts, which kicked off earlier this year, saw 12 Medallion partners signed and trained up, he said. In addition, around 20 resellers had participated in global management training as part of the vendor’s push for managed security services.
