Getronics wins five year outsourcing contract with UNiTAB

 • 16 April, 2004 09:04

Sydney – 16 April 2004: Getronics has extended its outsourcing relationship with UNiTAB, signing a new IT maintenance and support contract. The deal is worth $34 million over five years. Getronics will provide monitoring systems, technology refresh services, IMAC (Installations, Moves, Adds and Changes) services and onsite maintenance at more than 1,200 UNiTAB sites across Queensland.

The business imperative for UNiTAB is to reduce downtime, and resulting lost revenue, from out of order gaming machines. By outsourcing IT services to Getronics, UNiTAB can now respond quicker to its customers – a significant point of difference in a competitive service industry. Getronics engineers expect to make service calls to UNiTAB customers within two hours of a fault being reported and fix 80% of gaming machines on their first visit.

Getronics applied Prince2 project management methodology to improve existing maintenance processes and develop an alternative operating model for UNiTAB.

Michael Carr, Group Manager of Gaming Services, UNiTAB, said: “By offering strict service level agreements to our customers, we immediately set UNiTAB apart from other industry players. Outsourcing to Getronics has introduced greater flexibility into our business, laying the foundations for further growth.”

Jon Marks, National Sales Manager, Getronics, said: “No company exists in a vacuum. We developed a strong understanding of what UNiTAB required to compete and turned that knowledge into competitive advantage. UNiTAB now has a robust operational model which delivers a consistently high level of service to its customers, now and into the future.”
