Macromedia Director MX 2004

Macromedia has launched the latest version of its multimedia authoring tool, Macromedia Director MX 2004. Designed for professional multimedia developers, MX 2004 supports most major video, audio, bitmap, 3D and vector formats to give developers a broad content palette from which to deliver user experiences. The software’s video capabilities allow developers to stream video files in DVD-Video, Windows Media, RealMedia, QuickTime and Flash formats. In addition to adding support for Flash MX 2004 content and applications, Director has the ability to launch and edit both Flash and Fireworks to enable a seamless workflow. Flash content can be integrated into Director projects and Flash performance within Director projects has been improved over previous versions, the vendor claims. Like other MX 2004 products, the workspace is customisable and Director now offers users the ability to adjust the stage and movie-in-a-window interfaces for better workspace management. Interactivity within projects can now be scripted directly using JavaScript, Lingo, or a combination of both. Macromedia Director MX 2004 will be available in Australia by the end of the month. It is distributed by Scholastic Australia and Express Data.

RRP: $2015; upgrades — $675
