Losing his locks for autism

KAZ Group employee, Greg Bolton, had a close shave to end 2003. After raising $5200 for the Autism Association of NSW, Greg is now sporting a new hair-do (or lack of it) as part of KAZ’s annual fundraiser for the charity.

His new look was sponsored by his colleagues who donated money on the condition that he had his head completely shaven for the cause. KAZ Group matched its employees’ donations, dollar for dollar.

This was the fifth year of the KAZ Group’s support for the Autism Association of NSW. Since 1999, its employees have raised more than $25,000 for the organisation which is committed to providing support programs and services to people with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and their families.

Greg Bolton is the father of a 9-year-old boy with autism. In previous fundraisers for the organisation he has dyed his hair blue, while a colleague had his legs waxed.

“Obviously the disorder affects me very closely, but I know that it affects many others too,” Bolton said. “Being able to create awareness of autism is so important. It is not a high-profile thing and people with autism are often left to suffer in the background.”

KAZ presented a cheque to the Autism Association of NSW.
