HP’s increased investment in its networking channel is paying off, with distribution partner, Tech Pacific, achieving its first $1 million month with ProCurve in February.
And to cement the success with its networking partners, HP is planning on hiring new faces to add to its ProCurve channel team.
HP ProCurve’s country manager for Australia and New Zealand, Gurkirat Singh, said the vendor was adding two channel management employees in addition to the three-person team that support partners today.
The timeframe and specific duties were being etched out, he said.
“We will not hire to support one partner, but to support all partners,” Singh said.
There’s been growth across the board amongst all partners including Ingram Micro, Volante, Commander and Leading Solutions.
While Tech Pac’s networking team had been steadily growing its ProCurve business, Tech Pac Networking Category Manager, Lorraine Cowan, said the record $US1 million month came from work on both sides.
“It was a lot of focus both from HP getting in front of customers, and ourselves,” she said.
HP had supported its distributors with rebate promotions for resellers, and had allocated additional sales resources, Cowan said. Tech Pac’s performance in peddling Ethernet switches saw a strong, steady growth over the last six months thanks in part to the distributor’s promotions, Singh said.
Product specialists, in particular, help Tech Pac engage with the reseller, Singh said.
“We leverage that support and help train them on networking and Ethernet switching,” he said.
