Expand Networks has strengthened its foothold in the Australian market, announcing it has signed up two new distributors, Fujitsu and Alphawest, to expand its Melbourne presence.
The five year-old US-based company launched its assault on the Australian marketplace six months ago, when it appointed channel partners Dimension Data, NCR and Cybernet to take its range of WAN compression and acceleration appliances to the local market.
Partnering with technology solutions companies of such high calibre gives the company a tremendous presence in the Australian market, according to Expand director Tony Burke.
“We saw a lot of potential here,” he said. “Australia is a big country that spans great distances – quality of service is critical, and the cost of secure data communication is very high.”
Compression, acceleration and quality of service solutions designed to improve network performance have been extremely popular in the marketplace for several years now, according to Burke.
“The integration of all these functions into one single, platform-neutral solution is a clear differentiation offered by Expand Networks, and there are tangible total cost of ownership and return on investment benefits deilvered by this solution."
Expand has developed a multi-level channel program, with platinum and gold partnerships.
“We have different commitments with each of our channel partners,” said Burke, “but basically we’re committed to offering all of them ongoing technical development and sales assistance training.”
The company is not aggressively looking to further expand its channel structure at present, but they are delighted with the success they have had so far.
“Coming from a zero base six months ago, we’ve had very rapid and strong penetration in this market,” said Burke.
