Microsoft Outlines Key Initiatives and Partner Opportunity at Annual Australia & New Zealand Partner Conference

 • 24 August, 2004 09:47

Coolum, Queensland – 24 August, 2004 - At its annual Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Partner Conference, Microsoft today outlined its strategic goals and the important role partners play in continuing to meet customer needs and evolve Microsoft’s business.

During his keynote address, Microsoft Australia’s Managing Director, Steve Vamos, discussed the transition Microsoft has recently undergone as a means of strengthening relationships with customers and partners. He outlined Microsoft’s goal of producing great products that deliver great value to customers. Mr Vamos said that strong relationships with partners, developers and independent software vendors are crucial to the success of Microsoft customers.

“Microsoft is improving the way we work with partners and communicate with customers. As the industry continues to develop and demand more and more business value from software solutions, Microsoft is also changing in the way we work with our customers and partners by better articulating the business value of our products and solutions in the context of customer business needs. We rely on our partners to supplement our offerings with their expertise and industry knowledge,” Mr Vamos said.

The annual conference, which this year attracted more than 500 delegates, offers Microsoft’s partners an overview of the strategic goals and priorities for the company. As Microsoft achieves more than 95 per cent of its revenue from the partner ecosystem, ensuring partners are well briefed and enthusiastic is a key job for Microsoft Australia’s Kerstin Baxter, director of the partner group.

“Partners are integral to the success of both Microsoft and our mutual customers,” said Ms Baxter. “Our goal in bringing these partners together at the Partner Conference is to share with them our strategies for the new fiscal year ahead and offer them the support, training and resources they require to help customers succeed. I am continually inspired and impressed by the agility of our Australian and New Zealand partners and the value they continue to offer our customers.”

Over the course of two days Microsoft partners will attend a series of training and information sessions on Microsoft’s products and solutions competencies. The event will conclude with a gala dinner where the winners of the annual Australia and New Zealand Partner Conference Awards will be announced.
