Hardware vendor, MSI Computer, has added BCN Technology to its national distribution ranks after ending its relationship with Digiland. BCN Technology managing director, Ken Lowe, said the deal would allow his company to expand its product portfolio while giving MSI a stronger presence in the mid-sized reseller channel.
Although BCN had looked at forming at relationship with MSI for some time, Lowe said the vendor’s expansion into several different product areas - including multimedia devices, servers, notebooks, networking and consumer electronics - had allowed it to develop a more mature market offering.
“We had looked at distributing servers with them but there wasn’t much point forming a relationship when there was little other synergy,” he said.
“We do stock all of the product sets they offer through alternative vendors, but MSI is aiming at a different level of the market. Having MSI on board will add more dimension to our product range.”
Lowe said BCN was also impressed by MSI’s local representatives and support.
“This allows for more marketing activity, local product quality checks, and a quicker turnaround time on information and support from them to us,” he said.
Lowe said BCN would hire an additional six staff as a result of the new deal with MSI.
MSI managing director, Allen Leu, said BCN’s knowledge of the mid-sized market was the main driver for the partnership.
“BCN has a close understanding of the markets that MSI will be growing into,” he said.
MSI’s other national distributors are Ingram Micro, Legend, and Also Technology.
