Netgear ProSafe 48-port Gigabit Smart Switch

Designed for growing businesses, Netgear's ProSafe Switch GS748T delivers 1U high-density gigabit power plus management features. They include four hot-swappable SFP GBIC slots which provide optional fiber connectivity over extended distances. It is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, and is being promoted as an alternative to over-featured switches. The intuitive web browser interface is designed to make it easy to accomplish simple switch management; capabilities include performance monitoring, port configuration, VLAN for traffic control, port trunking for increased bandwidth, and Class of Service (CoS) for traffic prioritisation. Belkin 5 & 8 Port 10/100 switches

Designed for the SME sector and based on dial-up Internet connections, Belkin's 5 and 8 Port 10/100 switches provide the backbone for sharing email, printers, files, multiplayer games, and hard drives. One computer connects to the modem and the Switch, to become the Internet access point for all your connected computers. The Belkin 10/100 switches are designed to provide dedicated bandwidth to each computer in your network, enabling error-free data transmission. Additional computers can be added to the network via an uplink port. Belkin's 5 & 8 Port 10/100 switches are distributed either directly through Belkin, or through Ingram Micro. 3Com Baseline Switch 2816

3Com Baseline Switch 2816 is designed to be a highly affordable, high-performance unmanaged Gigabit switch, aimed at dynamic, small-business environments. Part of the 3Com Baseline Plus family, the 3Com Baseline Switch 2816 adds Gigabit Ethernet performance to business networks that don't need sophisticated management capabilities. Launched in August 2004, the Baseline Switch 2816-SFP Plus has the high-speed switching capacity of a wirespeed, Gigabit switch with sixteen 10/100/1000 ports and four SFP ports for fibre connectivity to eliminate network traffic bottlenecks. 1000Mbps Gigabit speeds and a switching capacity of 48Gbps meet the performance needs for even the most bandwidth-hungry applications, and the product works in conjunction with multiple platforms. ASUS GigaX1024P Switch

Specifically made for the SMB market, the new ASUS GigaX1024P is a layer 2 24-port 10/100 switch designed for quick and easy installation for MIS Managers. The unit provides two additional gigabit ports allowing for simultaneous 1000Mbs transfers as well as non blocking wire speed switching. Set up is easy using the ASUS Centralised Network Management (CNM) web-based management software allowing administrators access to advance configuration options such as port based VLANs, recognising CoS and QoS priority queues and set up of up to 8000 MAC Addressing. Adhering to the 19-inch form factor enables the unit to be stored in a standard 19-inch rack and is just as easy on desk due to its compact design. Other features include Auto MDI/MDIX, auto speed and duplex mode negotiation functions. The GigaX1024P is distributed by Cassa Australia. RRP: $320

Raritan Dominion KX116

The Raritan Dominion KX 116 is a next-generation, IP-based, digital management appliance that delivers full control of servers and other devices from anywhere and can scale to meet the needs of expanding data centers and server farms. With support up to two simultaneous users and 16 ports, the self-contained unit has authentication and Web-access features, and allows you to connect servers to the appliance using standard UTP cabling. The admin can then simply set an IP address and begin managing. Unlike other digital switches that rely upon external servers running Windows-based operating systems for access and authentication, all the Dominion Series appliances include built-in access, security, and management software that is protected from external threats. ASUS SL500 Security Router

With more networks under attack from hackers and viruses, Asus has released the SL500 - an affordable and easy to use Security Router. This affordable router is suited for both large and small business as well as the home user with a single broadband connection. The SL500 has a high through put rate ranging from 80Mps for VPN, 100Mps for Firewall and 90Mbps for NAT. The unit also has an integrated 4-port switch and offers standard security features such as Static and Dynamic NAT, Port Address Translation, Internet Key Exchange as well as Internet Sharing. Configuration is via a web interface allowing the end-user to easily set up security options. Additional features include up to 5 VPN Tunnels, 29 DOS Protection, DHCP and DNS Proxy server.
