Symbol appoints former Telstra Wholesale head of sales as Australia/New Zealand managing director

<p>Melbourne – 23 February 2004 – Symbol Technologies, the Enterprise Mobility Company, has appointed Kurt Hansen as managing director, Australia and New Zealand. Hansen will be responsible for driving market share growth in transport and logistics, retail, manufacturing, government and health care markets, and overseeing Symbol's transition to a more channel-centric sales model.</p>

"Kurt's leadership experience in a high growth environment combined with his deep understanding of the convergence of enterprise and telecommunications markets will be perfectly suited for his role at Symbol. In addition, his experience in transitioning from a direct to a channel sales model in the past will be invaluable as we strengthen our reliance on our expert business partners in 2004. I am very confident that Kurt will lead this team to strong growth."</p>
<p>Hansen previously worked for Telstra Corporation's multi-billion dollar Wholesale division as head of sales, where he drove revenue growth in core network assets and services. Prior to his role at Telstra, Hansen spent three years as sales director for Telco and Service Provider Operations at Cisco Systems. Before joining Cisco, he was with Ericsson for eight years. He began his career in IT and telecommunications in the Royal Australian Army Signal Corps before moving into private enterprise.</p>
