Revelation Software Reduces Cost of Ownership for Small Company and Departmental Applications

 • 16 February, 2004 11:25

Universal Driver Lite provides maximum performance and data integrity for up to three users sharing a single application on the network.

Revelation Software today announced the release of a new entry level version of its Universal Driver package, Universal Driver Lite. This new package is designed specifically to enable small companies and departmental application users to network their runtime applications for up to three users cost-effectively, while enjoying the benefits of enhanced application performance, increased data integrity and reduced downtime. Revelation Software’s Universal Driver Lite package, currently priced at $1,430, comprises a Universal Driver module plus a three-user OpenInsight® application development engine.

“The Universal Driver Lite package is substantially lower in cost than a Universal Driver and a three-user Server Deployment Pack," explained David Goddard, Managing Director, Revelation Software Australia. “It provides excellent value for companies with small departmental level applications, such as payroll systems or personnel records systems, that want to network those applications while at the same time protecting their data and maximising application speed.”

He added, “We also see this as a great opportunity for our reseller channel, opening up new opportunities for this type of product.”

Universal Driver Lite enables database activity to be offloaded onto the file server, dramatically reducing the amount of network requests, which translates into a significant increase in LAN performance. It is also able to protect against data corruption by recognising when an error occurs on the network and notifying the user, while protecting the application’s data table from incomplete transactions.

The Universal Driver Lite is compatible with Windows NT, 2000 or XP and can run on Windows, Novell or Linux servers.

Universal Driver Lite is available from Revelation Software, or through their network of resellers. See www.revelationsoftware.com.au for details.
