Wireless-networking vendor, Linksys, is boosting its presence in the retail channel with the announcement of a new distributor.
The Cisco-owned SMB network equipment provider has appointed Tech Pacific to join existing distributors Ingram Micro and Multimedia Technology.
Regional manager for Cisco’s Linksys business unit, Brian Allsop, said that Tech Pacific’s strong record of selling to the retail market would give the wireless specialists a new lease of life in the retail market.
“We’re launching a whole series of products that focus on the digital home, and we wanted to get a foothold on the retail channel with the right people.”
The digital home arena is also to be a major focus for Tech Pacific this year.
Although Linksys would be up against some major players, Allsop said that it would be able to increase both its market share and brand awareness in the year ahead.
“The ace in our hand is the ability to leverage the Cisco machine,” he said.
Tech Pac’s appointment follows Linksys’ decision to cut both Bluechip IT and Digiland from its distribution list nine months ago.
