As an Australian Distributor for Borderware for over 8 years, Open Systems Australia would like to provide you with the following news release.

No Gloom from MyDoom for BorderWare's MXtreme Customers
MyDoom Attacks More Frequent than Spam

London – January 30, 2004 – BorderWare Technologies Inc., The Security Appliances Company, today confirmed that no MXtreme Mail Firewall customers have been affected by the MyDoom outbreak or any of its variants and mutations.
According to report logs generated by an MXtreme customer – one of the largest corporations in Scandinavia – and sent to BorderWare technicians, MyDoom and its variants have attacked the customer more than 30,000 times in the past 24 hours, more than twice the number of spam messages in the same period. Reports volunteered to BorderWare from other customers around the globe indicate a similar pattern.

The MXtreme Mail Firewall installs at the network edge to deliver the most comprehensive perimeter security for email systems. MXtreme prevents any number of threats to email systems from spam, viruses, Trojans and worms, to malformed messages and denial-of-service attacks, while enabling overall email server functionality with sophisticated routing and delivery. MXtreme also provides secure remote access for Web Mail, and secure authenticated session proxies for Outlook Web Access (OWA) and iNotes.
To combat viruses, MXtreme integrates Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KAV), which recently added a "Best Buy" from SC Magazine to its growing number of awards and accolades. An unlimited license of KAV is available with each MXtreme, making it very cost effect for enterprises to build a layered defence against virus attacks at the perimeter.

"In larger enterprises, there may be several email servers sitting inside the network that would have to be updated with the latest anti-virus protection at the same time. One key advantage of protecting messaging systems at the perimeter, is that you can protect all of those backend mail servers simultaneously," said John Alsop, President and CEO, BorderWare Technologies.
