Paul Robson has been appointed channel and customer marketing manager for the personal systems group (PSG) of HP Australia.
Robson said the major priorities in 2004 were to improve back-end infrastructure and establish clear lines of communications with business partners.
In his new role, Robson will head up the HP channel marketing team as well as partner programs and activities.
He is also charged with driving the vendor’s small to medium business initiatives, managing installed base customer strategies and marketing for PSG.
“I have been looking at channel alignment and activities over the past 18 months,” he said. “From our perspective, the channel is a very important part of our go-to-market model and we are committed to providing clear communications and good programs to our partners.
“Whenever you have changes in the IT marketplace, like the merger of Compaq and HP, it becomes necessary to improve the back-end infrastructure in order to remove the ambiguity and confusion.”
The channel is not a new beat for Robson, who has worked for Compaq since 1999.
He worked closely with distributors and direct resellers in his previous role as Compaq’s product marketing manager for professional workstations.
Robson had similar duties when holding a range of sales and marketing positions for Philips.
