Citrix Introduces MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2

- New Version Enables SSL-based Synchronisation for Microsoft Outlook and Increased Control of User Access -

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – 4 March 2004 – Citrix Systems, Inc., the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced the newest version of Citrix® MetaFrame® Secure Access Manager, Version 2.2, which provides new features that enable workers to gain secure access over the Web to the information they need whether they are working inside or outside their corporate networks. MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2 provides mobile users with secure remote access for Microsoft Outlook synchronisation and enables IT administrators the flexibility to choose between using an existing portal, intranets and Web pages as user interfaces in addition to the MetaFrame Secure Access Manager’s “access centre” —whichever best fits their enterprise needs.

“Organisations are facing increasing internal demands for remote access to resources that they are accustomed to using at their desks. However, security has been a key sticking point to providing external access,” said Craig Roth of META Group. “Organisations that provide a mechanism to support end user information needs while meeting security requirements will have taken an important step towards enabling an agile enterprise.”

MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2 provides greater levels of mobility and enables roaming workers to synchronise a locally installed Outlook application, whether connected over the Web or within the enterprise. This allows users to work with Outlook when they can’t be connected to a Microsoft Exchange server. Outlook synchronisation is seamlessly enabled and secured when network connectivity becomes available again via MetaFrame Secure Access Manager’s SSL encrypted communications.

MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2 now supports “alternative user interfaces.” This powerful new feature allows administrators to securely integrate existing intranets, Web pages and enterprise portals such as SAP Enterprise Portal, IBM WebSphere, and Microsoft Sharepoint into their access infrastructure while still taking advantage of Secure Access Manager’s role-based access control, MetaFrame Presentation Server integration, and SSL-based secure connectivity. Most importantly, this new functionality gives customers greater flexibility and allows companies to leverage past IT investments while defining and executing on their overall access strategy.

MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2 is the only software infrastructure that provides secure, single-point access to aggregated information over the Web based on job roles and access policies – without compromising security or ease of access. Companies that have adopted MetaFrame Secure Access Manager have a business need to deliver enterprise and Web applications to their users, along with information from a variety of sources such as portals, Internet and intranet sites, streaming media, documents, network file services and XML-based Web services. With improved browser-based access to information configured for each user’s business needs, companies will be able to enhance end user productivity and ensure the most up-to-date and accurate information is being delivered. In addition, with a powerful set of easy-to-use, wizard-driven configuration tools, IT administrators can centrally control and manage access based on corporate policies, and set parameters for how IT services are used by all of their customers – no matter their job function or user location.

MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2 provides seamless integration with MetaFrame Presentation Server and the MetaFrame Access Suite. As access infrastructure for the on-demand enterprise, the MetaFrame Access Suite centralises access to applications and information and enables IT staffs to deliver, manage, monitor and measure enterprise resources on demand.
