Layer 3 switch featuring Power-over-Ethernet is latest addition to NETGEAR’s expanding range of corporate networking solutions

 • 02 February, 2004 16:13

Sydney, Australia (February 2, 2004) – NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR), a leading provider of easy to use, high-performance networking products, has launched its latest Layer 3 Switch featuring Power-over-Ethernet, which is ideal for growing businesses that want to support advanced applications and maximise their networks.

The NETGEAR FSM7326P 24-port Layer 3 Managed 10/100 Switch features Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), which optimizes the installation and power management of network devices such as wireless access points (AP), Voice over IP (VoIP) phones and security video cameras. Using PoE means that power and data switching are integrated into one unit and delivered over a single cable, eliminating costs for additional AC wiring and reducing installation time. This also allows for greater network flexibility, as wireless AP deployment is no longer restricted by power outlet locations.

The FSM7326P provides both Layer 2 and Layer 3 managed switching functionality, including routing, switching and quality of service (QoS) feature sets. Also Layer 4 aware, the FSM7326P can be used to provide new IP-based services including:

- Multiple Virtual Land Area Networks (VLAN), QoS, bandwidth limiting and access control features that enable smooth, clear VoIP telephony and video conferencing;
- Subnetting and strong, standards-based security protocols that isolate wireless APs and video surveillance equipment, protecting critical data from potential abuse;
- IP subnetting and gigabit ports that provide dedicated high-speed links to servers and
network backbones;
- Interface options that include a browser-based interface, CLI and Telnet.

The FSM7326P’s high performance and advanced management features deliver unsurpassed value, ensuring maximum bandwidth, control, resiliency and flexibility for hundreds of users.

The NETGEAR FSM7326P is available through value-added resellers throughout Australia for the RRP of A$2,199 (inc. GST) and comes with NETGEAR's standard three-year warranty. Increased technical support is also available with NETGEAR's advanced warranty.
