iSCSI-Enabled NetApp(r) Storage Solutions Provide Simple and More Affordable SAN Management for Lotus Domino Applications

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sydney - January 27th, 2004

Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions, has expanded support for IBM Lotus applications by announcing iSCSI support for NetApp SnapManager(r) for Lotus Domino. Combined with NetApp storage systems, iSCSI support offers customers the same affordability, scalability and simplicity as standard Ethernet networking to create a low-cost, high-performance storage area network for IBM Lotus Domino or IBM Lotus WorkPlace applications in Windows(r) and UNIX(r) environments.

NetApp SnapManager for Lotus Domino is a comprehensive data management solution that simplifies and automates configuration, backup and restore operations for Lotus Domino databases supporting e-mail; Web application services; and applications such as CRM, SFA and HR. NetApp solutions enable Lotus customers to easily expand capacity without affecting the performance of Lotus Domino or IBM WorkPlace applications or requiring the applications to be taken offline. NetApp is one of the first vendor partners of IBM Lotus to support Domino 6.5.

"We are seeing more enterprises turning to iSCSI for the benefits of storage networking-including increased storage utilisation, consolidation, scalability and easier backup and recovery in a cost-effective solution that helps them manage and store growing amounts of electronic data," said Mark Santora, senior vice president of Marketing at Network Appliance. "iSCSI support in Lotus Domino environments will enable customers to manage their data with affordable SAN solutions, while meeting business requirements for performance and availability, resulting in a higher return on infrastructure investment."
