Interact records 50% profit growth for 2002/2003
- 21 January, 2004 10:37
<p>Interact Commerce Corporation (Interact) today announced it had achieved a 50 per cent increase in bottom line profits for the 2002/2003 financial year (ended 30 September 2003), signaling a record year for the company in the Asia Pacific region.
Interact provides relationship management software to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through its two products lines ACT! contact management software and SalesLogix customer relationship management (CRM) software.
Craig Young, Interact Managing Director (Asia Pacific), said the company was delighted to be posting such strong results given the slump in the technology market.
He attributes Interact’s success in 2002/2003 to the launch of ACT! version 6.0 and a number of other software applications aimed at providing SMEs with a total business solution.
Young explained: “The release of ACT! version 6.0 in October 2002 was extremely well received by new and existing customers. Furthermore, we have developed a range of add-on applications and complementary products enabling customers to gain more from their existing IT investment.”
With sales force mobilisation a top priority for SMEs, Interact developed and released ACT! for Palm OS in January 2003 / ACT! Link for Pocket PC in April 2003 and ACT! for Web in May 2003, giving sales people access to customer data while on the road via their PDA or the internet.
In addition to integrating with Sage accounting software, Interact also partnered with MYOB and Quicken to develop software that would link a company’s front office sales function with its back office accounting systems.
Reflecting on the company’s achievements, Young said: “The biggest challenge in our industry today is being able to deliver the innovations customers demand and Interact has been very successful on this front. Our customers told us they wanted total integrated solutions that would help streamline their businesses and we are committed to making this happen.”
Interact’s parent company, the Sage Group plc (Sage), also recently announced impressive results in 2002/2003 with a £151.0 million increase in profits (12 per cent).
Globally, Sage’s customer base grew by 633,000 to over 3.6 million through a combination of new business wins and strategic business acquisitions, including that of South African accounting software company SoftLine Holdings (SoftLine), which has subsidiary offices in Australia comprising Micropay, Sybiz and Handisoft.
On Christmas Eve, Sage announced it will also acquire ACCPAC International Inc. (ACCPAC), a subsidiary of Computer Associates International Inc., based in California. ACCPAC is a vendor of a suite of business management solutions including accounting and customer relationship management (CRM) software for SMEs. ACCPAC has over 140,000 larger SME customers, notably in the US, Canada, South Africa, Australia and Singapore.
Young noted there would be tremendous opportunities for growth across the Asia Pacific region following the two recent acquisitions. With a healthy sales pipeline and several partnership opportunities on the horizon, Interact is optimistic its business will continue to return handsome profits in 2003/2004.</p>
