While Sony's new range of multimedia PCs may have been wooing audiences at PC Expo in New York last week, it appears the product will not receive its local debut until some time in 1997.
Sony Computer Products general manager Joe Cartwright said the local company will wait until the second generation of the product arrives next year before marketing it in Australia. "At this stage it's very early days for us," said Cartwright. "Obviously we're looking at the market, but all our attention right now is really keeping the rest of our computer business growing and heading in the right direction."
Sony Computer Products currently markets a range of peripheral devices including CD-ROM drives, monitors and tape backup units, as well as a wide range of digital media. The Sony PlayStation home games units are marketed through a division of Sony Music.
