Software vendor, Macromedia, has seen in the New Year with a flurry of activity including the signing of distributor Tech Pacific. The software vendor has also gained a new marketing manager, Greg O'Loan, who joins the company from Express Data.
The signing of Tech Pac in late December meanr the distributor had taken on the full range of Macromedia software, Macromedia channel director for Asia-Pacific, John Biviano, said.
Tech Pac joins Express Data and Scholastic in distributing for the vendor.
Macromedia had decided to add a third distributor in order to take advantage of Tech Pac’s leverage into the mass merchant retail channel, Biviano said.
“Our Tools products, including Dreamweaver and Flash, have matured to the point where we needed a bigger presence in the mass market,” he said.
The vendor would continue to support and work with its two previous distributors, Biviano said.
Tech Pac last week received its first shipment of Macromedia product, category manager for software, Lorraine Cowan, said.
Along with broadening Macromedia’s mass merchant reseller coverage, the addition of Tech Pac would further the choice for traditional software players such as Volante, she said.
This quarter also sees Macromedia rolling out its preferred partner program.
The vendor had already signed seven partners to its new reseller program, Biviano said.
O’Loan finished up as Express Data’s marketing manager in December.
