Novell Inc. updated this week its year-old Nterprise Branch Office software for centralizing network services, boosting the product's functionality and adding support for integrating several additional Novell applications.
Nterprise Branch Office 2.0 connects applications and hardware resources such as printers and allows them to be centrally managed. New features include enhanced disaster recovery and password management as well as support for Novell's GroupWise Post Office Agent for delivering local copies of e-mail stored on a server and for Novell's Zen for Desktops software for automated remote distribution of applications and updates.
Nterprise Branch Office 2.0 runs on Linux, Windows or NetWare networks, and will be available Friday through Novell resellers. The software is priced at US$2,500 per server, with each server license supporting up to 250 branch office users. Through July 31, NetWare 6.5 customers and current Nterprise Branch Office 1.0 customers can upgrade by purchasing an upgrade license for US$625 per server, according to a Novell spokesman.
