Taiwan's largest chip maker posts massive sales growth

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), the island's largest chip maker, last week announced year-on-year sales revenue growth of 132.4 per cent for the month of February.

The Hsinchu-based foundry service provider, said February sales reached $NT5.28 billion, as compared to $NT2.27 billion in the corresponding period a year ago.

TSMC attributed the sales growth to expanded production capacity and improved market condition. For the first two months of 1998, TSMC posted sales of $NT10.73 billion, an increase of 123.3 per cent over the $NT4.83 billion reported for the same period last year.
