IBM has launched the ThinkVision L190p 19-inch flat panel LCD monitor. The L190p features 1280 x 1024 resolution, 500:1 contrast ratio, 25 millisecond response time and 170 degree viewing angles — a 12 per cent larger viewing area than a 19-inch CRT. The L190p’s stand allows the monitor to be swivelled 135 degrees in either direction and features tilt and lift adjustments. The lift function provides variable height adjustment within an 80mm vertical range. The L190p also includes an on-screen display that provides users with the ability to navigate through functions by providing both icon symbols and text descriptions. In addition, the monitor offers one button access to frequently used monitor functions that adjust the brightness, switch between dual input sessions when attached to two systems concurrently, and automatic image setup that optimises the image quality. ThinkVision L190p is distributed by TechPacific, Ingram Micro, IT Wholesale and Synnex.

Aimed at home users, SOHOs, SMEs and gamers, the Samsung SyncMaster 152X is a 15-inch TFT-LCD monitor that features a 12 millisecond response time, 450:1 contrast ratio, pixel pitch of 0.297mm, 1024 x 768 maximum resolution, a scanning frequency of 30-61 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical, and a horizontal/vertical viewing angle of 120 degrees/110 degrees. With a narrow 9mm bezel, the monitor is wall-mount compatible via its Dual Hinge Stand and supports Windows 95/98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and Apple Mac platforms. The SyncMaster 152X is backed by a three-year parts and labour warranty, including the backlight. It is distributed in Australia by Tech Pacific, Ingram Micro, IT Wholesale, Westan and Express Data.

The Viewmaster MC999 19-inch beige LCD monitor is targeted at the SOHO customer as well as medium to large businesses. Featuring 1280 x 1024 SXGA resolution and 250cd/m2 brightness, the MC999 has a contrast ratio of 500:1 and horizontal/vertical viewing angle of 85 degrees/85 degrees. The response time is 25 milliseconds and has 15-pin DSUB and 24-pin DVI-D connector. The Viewmaster MC999 is distributed by Hallmark Computer International.

Designed for the office and home environment, the 19-inch Acer AL1931 features a typical brightness of 300cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 700:1. The AL1931 can be use as a standard PC LCD monitor with VGA (analog), DVI-D and S-Video inputs. It offers auto adjustment of full screen images, regardless of resolution. DVI, D-Sub, RCA and S-Video inputs are located at the back of the monitor. The AL1931 is distributed by Best Byte and Bluechip and is available now.

The AOC LM729 is the first monitor in a new line of flat-panel displays designed by AOC in collaboration with Lunar. The 17-inch LCD features a contrast ratio of 450:1, a typical brightness of 260cd/m2, a pixel pitch of 0.264mm and 25ms response time. The monitor has DVI-D and Analog inputs and offers adjustability functions such as 25-degree tilt, 70-degree swivel and 110mm height-adjustment. The screen can be rotated 90-degrees for portrait or landscape viewing mode, and the included Pivot Pro software simplifies switching between these two modes. The LM729 is now available through Morning Star Computers and Compucon Computers. It comes with a three-year limited onsite warranty.

The L1730 is an Active Matrix TFT monitor with a contrast ratio of 450:1. It has a typical brightness of 300cd/m2, 25ms response time and a pixel pitch of 0.264 mm. The L1730 has a typical viewing angle of 160 degrees horizontal and 140 degrees vertical, due to the -5 to +25 vertical tilt and -170 to +170 degree swivel range. This unit has a frequency of 50 to 60 Hz, with a maximum operating power of under 50 watts with audio in and the nominal current being 1.5 maximum. The L1730 is distributed in Australia by Ingram Micro, Dicker Data and Tech Pacific.

Boasting a 16ms response time, the VL5A9PD has a contrast ratio of 400:1, 250cd/m2 brightness and a pixel pitch of 0.297mm. It offers a typical viewing angle of 140 degrees horizontal and 125 degrees vertical. The VL5A9PD features a stylish silver/black bezel, height adjustable stand, two multimedia speakers and wall-mount capabilities. It has 15-pin D-sub VGA input and audio input/microphone jack, plus optional DVI-I and S-Video inputs. For the security conscious it also comes standard with a Kensington lock. The VL5A9PD is distributed in Australia by ADO Electronic Industrial and backed by a three-year on-site warranty (including backlight).
