Entering a promotional competition with HP’s networking business, ProCurve, proved to be an Italian job for Haydn Lucas when he drove off in the $45,200 first prize — a Mini Cooper S.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have won the mini,” said Lucas, who works for elite ProCurve partner Commander and has been selling HP’s networking gear for the past five years.
Sell Big Win Mini was open to all sales staff working for the vendor’s distributors, elite partners and a select number of other resellers. Every time a rep sold one of the 25 eligible products between August and October their name went into a hat, giving the leading sellers the best chance of winning.
HP did not reveal whether Lucas was a top salesman or just a very lucky boy.
“Commander is one of our highly valued partners and we’re very happy to have brought such a fun promotion to the channel,” HP ProCurve marketing manager, Mark Berends, said.
While the Mini promotion was a one-off, elite partner and distributor reps have already been invited to Switch to the Edge.
Running until February, this competition will reward the top six switch sellers during the next three months with a trip to California and Nevada.
