Adobe Systems has shipped FrameMaker 7.1 software, the upgrade to its enterprise-class authoring and publishing solution. FrameMaker 7.1 offers expanded Extensible Markup Language (XML) file handling and direct document import and migration features providing organisations with a more efficient way of maintaining long, complex documents. With the Conditional Text feature, authors can maintain different variations of a document in a single XML source file. The variations can be controlled and previewed for print and PDF, and can also be used in XML transformations downstream. Users can now manage cross-references between XML files. Windows users can expand on previous projects by migrating technical documents created in Adobe PageMaker and QuarkXPress directly into FrameMaker 7.1. Adobe Framemaker 7.1 is distributed by Express Data. RRP: $1599 (Windows); upgrade — $379; $2599 (Sun Solaris); upgrade — $519.
