Following the Acquisition of Aelita Software, Careful Analysis of Customer, Market and Technical Requirements Leads to Decisions Outlined in New White Paper.

IRVINE, Calif., May 18, 2004 – Quest Software (Nasdaq: QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, today unveiled a comprehensive product integration plan for the Windows management solutions previously offered by Quest Software and the newly acquired Aelita Software. Key decisions and integration strategies are outlined in a white paper now available at http://wm.quest.com/newsroom/pressroom/.

“Our combined organization has more than 8,000 customers worldwide, and all our product rationalization decisions took their needs and interests into account first and foremost,” said Ratmir Timashev, senior vice president and general manager, Windows Management group, Quest Software. “The decisions and directions outlined in this document are based on listening to our customers over the years. While our products will continue to evolve over time, this roadmap provides a snapshot of how we will combine the Quest Software and Aelita product sets into powerful solutions with real-world benefits.”

Integration decisions were based on several guiding principles:
• Ensure that customers’ investments in both Quest Software and Aelita products are maintained;
• Provide a clear path for customers to benefit from the expanded product set;
• Focus research and development resources on the best technology from both companies to produce high-quality products that offer solid value.

“We have benefited from use of Quest Software’s products in many areas of our IT organization, and have found them to be very responsive to our needs,” said Ron Rose, CIO of Priceline.com. “The addition of products from Aelita Software will further enhance Quest’s solution offering, giving customers an even broader range of capabilities from a single vendor partner.”

“Combining Quest Software and Aelita is a perfect marriage, in my opinion,” said Alex Duncan, team lead, enterprise messaging, Tribune Company. Tribune is a longtime Aelita customer, using its Exchange migration product. “The Quest and Aelita products really complement one another, and it’s nice to be able to see more products from a single company.”
