HP Announces Amcor Outsourcing Deal

Contract caps off strong year for IT services

SYDNEY, 9 December 2003 HP has announced it has won an outsourcing contract from packaging company Amcor Australasia, worth over $100 million.

The five year deal includes management of applications and staff, as well as provision of IT infrastructure. Amcor selected HP following a competitive process that included other major IT service providers.

"Amcor expects this significant IT arrangement will deliver increased levels of service, reliability and availability," said Rob Pyne, Group General Manager Amcor Information Technology.

"Amcor also expects to work closely with HP to evaluate new opportunities for the use of I.T. to meet its business objectives.

"HP is an experienced provider of outsourcing services and we look forward to working closely with the company during the coming years to ensure a close alignment of our business and IT needs."

The Amcor contract follows a number of other significant IT services deals won by HP during the past year. Deals announced during 2003 include:

- Vodafone Australia: HP entered into a long term deal with the telecommunications carrier to support and deliver IT infrastructure, as well as maintain its data centres.
- Mayne Group: HP was appointed as the group's strategic IT outsourcing partner for the next six years in a multi million dollar deal.
- Norwich Union: HP was contracted to provide managed services to the high profile financial institution as part of a multi million dollar contract.

"HP has the knowledge and the experience in the Australian IT services market to maximise return on IT investment for companies such as Amcor," said Pathy Pathmanaban, Vice President, South Pacific, HP Services.

"By any measure this has been an extremely successful year for HP Services and we look to continue to build on this during 2004."

The new outsourcing arrangement between HP and Amcor will begin immediately.
