Xbox has added some local colour to three of its Christmas game releases, giving players the option of racing cars around the streets of Sydney, playing tennis as Lleyton Hewitt, or skiing Mt Buller, all without leaving the comfort - and safety- of the couch.
Racing game, Project Gotham 2, allows players to race around Sydney’s landmarks including the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Footage was shot in The Rocks to ensure photo-realistic gaming, according to Xbox marketing manager, Richard Hirst.
Players can race to the soundtrack of local radio stations including Nova, Triple M or 2Day FM. Once players have their fill of Sydney, they can also race in Chicago and Florence, Italy.
Cars include the new Enzo Ferrari and the Mini Cooper S.
The game awards players for speed as well as stylish driving.
It is also enabled for online competition through Xbox Live.
The retail release date is November 28.
Snowboarders will get a chance to tackle Victoria’s Mt Buller in Xbox’s Amped 2, released earlier this month. The freestyle snowboarding game features terrain parks designed by world famous snow park architect Chris Gunnarson.
The new release game, Top Spin, lets tennis fans impersonate or challenge 16 real-life champions, including Australia's Lleyton Hewitt.
Players can use a variety of shots on clay, hardcourt or grass, and even argue line calls. Other featured stars include Anna Kournikova, Martina Hingis, and Pete Sampras.
All three games can be played online via Xbox Live.
